Apple Studios and A24 are developing a film around infamous FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried, according to a Variety report.

The film will adapt Michael Lewis’ bestselling book, Going Infinite, with Lena Dunham on board to write the screenplay.

The film will chronicle the rise and collapse of crypto exchange FTX and its founder Sam Bankman-Fried.

Now under production, this project follows Apple’s record-breaking $5 million acquisition of rights to Michael Lewis’s book in September 2023, surpassing previous high-profile film rights purchases.

FTX, established in 2019, grew to become one of the world’s largest crypto exchanges before its collapse in 2022 when customers discovered billions in missing funds during a mass withdrawal attempt.

Bankman-Fried was later convicted on fraud and money laundering charges.

Michael Lewis spent extensive time with Bankman-Fried before the collapse of FTX, attending events alongside the former billionaire, including an FTX party in the Bahamas and even his house arrest.

Released in October 2023, Lewis’s book quickly became a New York Times bestseller, drawing readers with its in-depth look at Bankman-Fried’s life and the events leading up to FTX’s implosion.

Apple and A24’s Going Infinite adaptation is part of an ongoing trend of high-profile productions surrounding Bankman-Fried and FTX.

Other streaming platforms, including Amazon, are developing limited series based on the FTX collapse.
